The Belgian alternative band STAKE unveils the dark, post-apocalyptic, and Mad Max-inspired new video for "Deadlock Eyes". The track is from the new album LOVE, DEATH and DECAY, which will be released on September 30, 2022, via Hassle Records.
"Deadlock Eyes" was written during the lockdown and reflects the band's collective feeling of bleakness and despair in the face of an unprecedented global experience. Singer/guitarist Brent Vanneste comments on the band's latest work and their video collaboration with Ghost, a creative hub of artists and engineers, and The Mutoid Waste Company, a performance art group founded in the early 1980s in London, who refer to themselves as The Mutoids. "Deadlock Eyes" was written in the midst of the lockdown when we felt stuck and saw no light at the end of the tunnel. The heaviness of the riffs we came up with at that time perfectly reflected this," Vanneste recounts. "Last summer, we were invited by The Ghost Collective to infiltrate Mutonia, Santarcangelo Di Romagna in Italy. Together with a nest of artists and the Mutoids themselves, we worked for a week on a big show that the whole village could attend," Vanneste explains. "Our new video is one of the results of this extraordinary creative excursion. We were completely in the mood as we dove into this absurd Mad Max bubble. 'Deadlock Eyes' was the perfect soundtrack for this extraordinary journey to Mutonia. A big thank you to Ghost for this opportunity! Video by Ghost, Jeroen De Wilde, and the Mutoids."
