“We live in a world where cultures and beliefs merge, but at the same time intolerance and injustice dominate the world. Both societal issues and the rapid rise of religiously tinged ideologies have led to fear, fragmentation, and disconnection,” say Within Temptation about their new single.
Singer Sharon den Adel elaborates: “‘Don’t Pray For Me’ speaks out against imposing one’s own beliefs and fears on others and calls for the acceptance that everyone has their own journey ahead. It is an anthem about coming to terms with the fact that beliefs can be fluid, diverse, or different. The song is about allowing people to pursue their own destiny.”
“Don’t Pray For Me” is the fourth independent single from Within Temptation, which the band is releasing on their own label. However, the band has also spent a lot of time in the studio writing and recording numerous songs for their new album, which is expected to be released next year.
In 2022, Within Temptation will first embark on a USA tour with Iron Maiden after an extensive summer festival season before their highly anticipated co-headliner European tour with Evanescence begins in November. The “Worlds Collide” tour, for which an impressive 175,000 tickets have been sold in eight countries, will bring both bands to venues such as the O2 Arena in London, AccorHotels Arena in Paris, the Velodrom in Berlin, and the Palais 12 in Brussels.
