The Icelandic-Austrian duo Oehl released their debut album "Über Nacht" via Grönland Records on January 24, 2020. Since they cannot present their songs live to their audience at the moment, Ariel Oehl and Hjörtur Hjörleifsson are taking a new perspective and sending their eleven songs on a virtual journey
The band Oehl is calling on fans and other musicians via Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to create reinterpretations of the songs from their debut album "Über Nacht". Ariel Oehl says: "You brood over the songs for months, and when the album is out, you usually go on tour with it, let them leave the nest, and see how they are received by the audience. But since we cannot go on tour at the moment, we at least want to send our songs out into the world and see what friends and fans make of them." In this unique way, the two musicians creatively use the internet to be on tour in some way. At least their songs are. In the living rooms of their fans.
At the same time, seven friendly female artists from Germany, Iceland, and Austria have been invited to create their own interpretations. These will be released on July 31 on an EP titled "Im Spiegel" to accompany the cover project. The artists are Mira Lu Kovacs, Culk, Lylit, Children, Oska, Mynth, and Brynja. A first song from this project can be heard today with Culk's interpretation of "Tausend Formen".

For the cover project "Im Spiegel", which Oehl wants to involve as many fans as possible, a songbook has been printed on silver paper specifically for the band's webshop, allowing pieces like "Keramik", "Über Nacht", or "Wolken" to be played at home on guitar or piano. The songbook is also available for free as a PDF download at oehlmusic.com.
"Every beginning is preceded by an end," sings Oehl in the song "Keramik", but there is still no end in sight for this debut album.
