And it's that time again, the festival planning for summer 2017 is underway. And this year, the Resist to Exist (August 4-6, 2017) must not be missed. In its fourteenth year, this has now become the largest DIY festival in Germany, and it shows no signs of slowing down. The lineup leaves little to be desired, featuring bands like F*CKING ANGRY, ZSK, ICHSUCHT, SWISS UND DIE ANDERN, RAWSIDE, and many more, which will surely quicken the hearts of punk fans. I already have more than one personal highlight in mind.
As every year, there is also the chance for smaller, lesser-known bands to secure one of the 2 slots in the lineup. During the BATTLE TO RESIST (March 3, 2017, and April 15, 2017, in Berlin at Linse), unknown bands can prove themselves. The scene needs new talent, and it must not only be found but also supported. At both events, the bands will compete for an opener slot, with the winner of the evening receiving one of the two coveted spots.
Since moving from Berlin to Kremmen last year, the Resist has found a worthy successor site there. With plenty of space for 2 open-air stages, a festival cinema, camping, info booths, beer counters, bowling counters, and much more, it attracts us again this year.
DIY means doing it yourself! Whether it's admission, stage security, paramedics, or bar staff, everyone is there to implement the DIY concept voluntarily and without payment. As every year, helping hands are sought.
