Jeanne Added - sends an EP ahead of her debut album
Classical, jazz, indie rock, electronic, grunge, theater music… The French singer and multi-instrumentalist is as versatile as she is hard to categorize.
After completing her training in classical singing, cello, and jazz, including at the National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris and the Royal Academy of Music in London, she received numerous collaboration requests from various musicians both domestically and internationally. Thus, alongside some excursions into jazz and classical music, she made a name for herself in the French indie scene with around 40 performances as a duo with Marielle Chatain (The Dø).
With the EP "A War Is Coming," the precursor to her solo debut album, which will also be released in 2015, is set to drop on 03.13, both produced by Dan Levy of The Dø. Here, minimalist, expressive pop meets experimental electronics. Coupled with a voice whose power and charisma have captivated France's jazz and pop scene for years, she draws comparisons to singers like Anna Calvi or PJ Harvey.
For the international music festival Rencontres TransMusicales in Rennes, Jeanne was even selected as the opening act, followed by a five-day residency at the local Aire Libre Theatre. The press reviews of Jeanne Added also show that we are definitely dealing with an artist to watch:
"Her character and presence captivate an audience that shuns pre-packaged emotions." Libération
"Powerful singing and martial bass – a dark mix of electro and razor-sharp rock." L’Express
EP Tracklisting:
1. „A War Is Coming"
2. „It"
3. „Miss It All"
