I am the queen in my life and I alone bear the responsibility for the state of my kingdom. That’s what the crown in the Sarajane logo stands for.
The woman who says this was born in the mid-80s as Sara Jane McMinn somewhere in the countryside of Lower Saxony, the oldest of 6 children. Growing up in an English-speaking household, she embodies the conquering spirit of her British ancestors and the structure of her German family.
After graduating from high school in 2005, she moved to Hamburg to seek her fortune. While training at the Hamburg School of Music, Sarajane founded her own band.
Soon she also began singing live and in the studio for other artists and has been part of Ina Müller's background choir for several years. She regularly rocks the stage with her band at the legendary Hamburg nightclub 'Angie’s' and has also established her own very popular concert series in Hamburg called "In The Mix", featuring many musical guests, lots of good music, and everyone sharing the stage together. Just a side note…
Sarajane has written her music with English lyrics from her own pen. "I have to write in the language in which I also dream." German feels simply wrong to her, at least as a singer, "besides, I also want to play my songs in England and put them to the test.
Sarajane seems so brave and self-sufficient in everything she is currently doing. "When the first major labels actually called," she says, beaming from ear to ear, "and told me: Yes, interesting music, I just need to find myself… that’s when I founded my own label - McNificent Music. Now I am a singer, organizer, songwriter, booker, taxi driver, cook, my own bank, my secretary, even my own record label head and still a big sister, friend, wife, and all that."
In the meantime, she has gathered a real team around her that functions like an intact, small community. In other words: "Now it’s time to go!"
"I wrote my first single 'Moving Up' to remind myself that, even when it gets tough, I have chosen my own path and am taking steps towards my dream. It’s my personal 'Happy', every time I sing it, I am resolutely renewed."
Sarajane has recorded her first album "# Step One", which will be released on 06.03.15 by McNificent Music / Belive Digital / Soulfood.
