After the earthquake in South Asia, over 50,000 fatalities are now feared. Among them are many tourists who were spending their holidays in the region. Mieszko Talarczyk, the singer and guitarist of the Swedish grind/hardcore band Nasum, was also in Thailand with his girlfriend for the Christmas holidays. On the morning of December 26, they were in their bungalow when the water swept their hut away. Talarczyk's girlfriend managed to reach a hospital severely injured, from where she reportedly posted a missing person notice for her friend in the so-called "Phuket Disaster Forum," where he is still missing.
On their homepage, the remaining band members of Nasum have now issued a statement regarding the rumors that have arisen:

It is very difficult for us to write this, but since the rumors are already circulating on the internet, we would like to provide an official statement: Mieszko Talarczyk is missing in Thailand. Mieszko and his girlfriend intended to spend their holiday in Thailand. They flew out a few days before Christmas and planned to return shortly after New Year.
They were staying in a bungalow on Phi Phi Island. When the tsunami came, it swept the bungalow away, and the two were separated. Mieszko's girlfriend is severely injured in the hospital, but she has at least been able to get in touch with Mieszko's sister. She also posted a missing person notice in the Phuket Disaster Forum.
As soon as there is any news, we will announce it on the site (http://www.nasum.com/). That is all we know so far. We are all shocked by this terrible uncertainty. We also ask all fans to refrain from guestbook entries and emails through our homepage. We will publish it immediately as soon as we know anything new, but please respect that we cannot answer direct inquiries at the moment.
Best regards, Anders, Jon, and Urban from Nasum.
