They combine 50s B-movie horror self-irony with an instantly gripping 60s band attitude, a powerful 70s rock sound, and a striking 80s neon look into their own signature style: With two highly regarded EPs and their hard-celebrated live shows, Tame The Abyss have earned the status of one of Southern Germany's best-kept secrets over the past four years. After a period of relative silence from the Munich trio, Tame The Abyss is now back with renewed strength, unleashing their eagerly awaited debut album "They Live Again!" this November!
As a preview, the first single "This Is The Love" along with a video has been released. The band describes the song as follows: "On 'This Is The Love' we deal with the influence of social media and ask whether likes and click counts can replace real interpersonal closeness and affection. The song is a catchy stadium rock number that sticks in your ear for days while being profound enough to make you think. But only if you want to. Otherwise, just sing and celebrate wildly along! That's perfectly fine."
With the new track "Loaded Gun," one wonders: Is it more "Queen" or "Black Sabbath"? And why does it fit together so well? The media are divided, as no matter which direction it goes: The single "Loaded Gun" by Tame The Abyss breaks all the boxes it is intended to fit into. Hard guitar riffs attack from the silence. A siren-like falsetto leads the listener directly to the relentlessly pounding groove of drums and bass. The song takes you on an uncertain journey, with surprises lurking everywhere. But not only musically has the trio drawn from the full. The music video was hand-animated by Russian artist Alica Khaet and visually surpasses every standard.
With their first full-length album "They Live Again!" Tame The Abyss successfully fights their way back from the abyss that opened up shortly after the pandemic for the southern German trio. Founded in March 2020, the trio released their debut EP "They Came In The Night!" in January 2021, a first sign of life that led singer/guitarist Georg Raig, drummer Peter Schertel, and bassist Jan Szymanski directly from the rehearsal room to the "Summer Stage" of Munich's Olympic Stadium later that same year. After further local performances, the second EP "They Vanished At Dawn!" was released in March 2022, after which the band involuntarily disappeared from the face of the earth for a while. After numerous problems such as a failed record deal or canceled concerts, the Bavarian rockers have once again pooled their strengths and founded their own label, Plastic Fang Records, on which their debut album "They Live Again!" will be the first official release.
Tame The Abyss do not want to limit themselves to one genre but combine various styles of rock such as hard rock, classic rock, alternative, prog, and stoner into a highly contagious kick-ass sound. A mix of styles that, while not reinventing the musical wheel, is a bit more elegant than the competition, as frontman Georg Raig explains with a smile.
An engaging atmosphere that Tame The Abyss has authentically captured on their debut album. All songs from "They Live Again!" were recorded in a real live situation without many subsequent overdubs or post-production tricks, after the trio retreated to one of their notorious songwriting sessions in the Bavarian Forest. Including traditional log cabin romance with cuckoo clocks, deer antlers, and schnapps for breakfast. This creates a balance between catchiness and musical ambition, headbanging and technical proficiency, which Tame The Abyss has definitely achieved.
The album will be released as a CD (matte digipak, 16-page booklet, bonus track, including download code) and vinyl (glossy gatefold, 140g pink/green splatter vinyl, black padded inner sleeve, including download code, numbered and limited to 300 copies).
In parallel with the release of their new album "They Live Again!" this coming November, the Bavarian trio will also be back performing live across Germany.
