They have awakened the dead. They have been revered and spat upon. They have entered the Sængerkrieg as unbridled sinners with their racing hearts. And they followed their compass to the sun after the art theft: With their captivating signature sound of modern rock and centuries-old influences, In Extremo have not only shaped their own music genre but have also developed into the most well-known and successful medieval rock band in the world, captivating a global audience of millions for nearly three turbulent decades. After seven albums awarded with precious metals (of which no less than four reached the number one spot on the German longplay charts), the tightly-knit musicians have come together again to dispel dark thoughts in uncertain times and to bring new courage, hope, and plenty of good cheer with "Wolkenschieber"!
A central thought has always been at the forefront of their music: that of celebration, sociability, and community. Whether at early medieval market performances or during large arena shows around the globe – a bond that In Extremo has forged closely with their fans near and far over thirty exciting years, and which Robert Michael "Das Letzte Einhorn" Rhein, Sebastian "Van Lange" Lange, Kay "Die Lutter" Lutter, André "Dr. Pymonte" Strugala, Marco "Flex Der Biegsame" Zorzytzky, and Florian "Specki T.D." Speckardt commemorate on their 13th studio album. With "Wolkenschieber", the medieval rockers are finally sending their eagerly awaited new album on its journey.
The long player presents a quickly infectious mixture of captivating party and drinking songs, combative freedom anthems, and touching ballads, with which the band now opens the next chapter in their work. The new album conveys what In Extremo stands for in 2024 and has always stood for: for solidarity, for clear words, and of course for plenty of energy.
"Wolkenschieber" will be released on September 6, 2024, via Universal Music in a versatile product range, including two standard versions as a digisleeve and black double vinyl with 12 tracks. Additionally, two limited deluxe versions will be available, including two bonus tracks as a CD in a cross digipak with a 20-page booklet and double vinyl in pearl optics in 180 grams with a signed art print. There will also be various bundle versions with the official
"Wolkenschieber" T-shirt and an exclusive "Wolkenschieber" bitter.
