The Finnish quintet will release their third album on April 2 as a collaboration with several European labels, in Germany with My Ruin!
Custody is a five-member melodic pop-punk band from southern Finland. They are no newcomers to the punk rock music scene, as they have nearly 100 years of combined experience playing in bands, touring, and releasing records over the past 25+ years. The band was formed in 2015 after they had toured in various other bands in the preceding years, with the shared goal of releasing some pop-punk songs. Since then, the band has released a number of singles and two albums.
The band's debut album was released in 2018, and it was a busy year for them as they toured through Europe and the USA, playing club shows and festivals - Booze Cruise in Hamburg and The Fest in Gainesville, to name just a few. Album 2 was released during the peak of the Covid pandemic in 2020. While many shows and tours were canceled, the album itself received much praise from both domestic and foreign media alike.
The band finally managed to tour Europe for 23 days in the summer of 2022 with The Distants (USA) and another week in 2023 alongside Duesenjaeger in front of sold-out crowds in Germany.
This new album (titled "3") is a collection of songs from the last three years. While it still maintains the recognizable Custody sound, the arrangements have allowed for a bit more space for bass and vocals compared to the previous album, making it a truly coherent compilation of catchy (punk) rock songs. The cover design follows the theme of collage art that was already established with the first EP in 2015 and was once again created by Riitta Koukkunen.
Custody are:
Sami Nykänen - Vocals
Ilkka Tuominen – Guitar / Vocals
Pasi Palojärvi – Guitar
Antti Jumppainen - Bass
Antti Pekkanen – Drums
