PEARS from New Orleans will release their new album on March 6, 2020, which is named after the band, namely PEARS.
This is the band's third album and still offers what has allowed them to quickly build a loyal fanbase, while also maintaining the attention of Fat Wreck Chords since their inception.
Why should one like the band?
If you can relate to the terms Melodycore, Skatecore, and melodic Hardcore, and enjoy the sound of bands like Descendents, 7 Seconds, or similar groups, you simply cannot overlook PEARS.
If you like variety in music.
If you have a sense of humor and irony and enjoy just chatting nonsense sometimes.
Well, simply put, if you go through life with a grin on your face and at a fast pace, then PEARS just fit right in.
PEARS convey a bit of the feeling of bands from 20 years ago that came from the USA and brought a skate punk wave with them. However, this is paired with melodic Hardcore and musical skill.
Lyrically, they also venture into humorous territory, as shown by the following lines from the song “Zero Wheels“:
I’ve never done my taxes, I can’t even cook an egg
And I never broke the ceiling but I broke my stupid leg
Back when I was just a kiddie, I was climbing up the slide
Cause the simplest equations leave me deeply mystified
The whole album continues in this vein. Some songs sound like personal experiences, while others reflect...big boys making music, having a lot of fun, and showing it.
The new album by PEARS is really a lot of fun to listen to, and I think the band really kicks it live. However, we still have to wait until the band makes it back to Europe; at the moment they are touring in the USA, and then they are heading to Australia, and maybe after that to....
