The Italian band LOS FASTIDIOS has impressively shown since its inception that it can play many styles, and it does so well that it always comes across as authentic and honest. The latest proof was provided by the band with their current album “Joy, Joy, Joy“, which I had the pleasure of reviewing for ramtatta.de. The co-owner and tour manager of LOS FASTIDIOS, the charming Elisa Dixan, took on two songs by LOS FASTIDIOS back in 2018, changed the arrangement a bit, and sang the lyrics herself. The result was quite good at the time. So good, in fact, that Elisa is now following up.
Elisa has taken on three songs by LOS FASTIDIOS, specifically the following:
In 1968 from the album “Let´s do it“ from 2014
Skankin´ in the Gehtto from the album “Let´s do it“ from 2014
Reggae Rebels from the album “All´arrembagio“ from 2009
The three songs sound as if they were not recorded recently, but rather as if they have been around for twenty or thirty years. I don't mean the recording quality, but much more the style of the songs. It is so old school that it could pass as an original from back then. Beautifully powerful 2-Tone paired with the pressure of street punk and a pinch of Oi.
Elisa's voice fits perfectly with the songs. Her voice has exactly the strength it needs to stand out in front of the music, while also possessing a lot of charm and warmth. Elisa sings with such confidence, as if she has never done anything else but sing.
All three songs are absolutely danceable.
All three songs are really great.
Anyone who likes old school ska with attitude can grab this without hesitation.
The three songs will only be released on colored vinyl, and if you don’t want to gift it to yourself for Christmas, you probably know someone who would be delighted to receive this little piece of vinyl.
LOS FASTIDIOS are currently on tour (please check the Facebook page or the band's homepage for tour dates), and Elisa is along for the ride. So you might even see her live on stage with the band.
