I really thought for a long time about whether I should review a release of a measly 2 songs. Ultimately, it was my guilty conscience that now drives me to evaluate the first single by the Essen indie-punk band GOODBYE FAIRGROUND.
First of all, the 5 guys and Julia behind the drum kit know their craft, no question about it. The fact that the two songs "Western Gold" and "The Fisher King" are clearly too little for me, even just to give them a listen, goes without saying. Musically, GOODBYE FAIRGROUND see themselves on the record shelf between AGAINST ME! and THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. I wouldn't quite see the musical affinity with the former band, but with the latter, definitely more so. It's just a shame that I don't like the latter as much. And so, these two songs don't really stick in my ears.
Let's better wait for the album, which is supposed to be released in the spring.
