The LP comes with beautiful artwork, including a lyric sheet, download code, and a recipe for Spaghetti Peppone, which I think is a particularly good idea that more bands should adopt. The record is available in both red and black vinyl. The whole package is released by Bördebehörde Tonträger, which seems to be the band's own label, and the album was recorded at home. Overall, upon the first and even the second listen, one thinks: Wow, these guys have definitely listened to a lot of Boxhamsters or similar. The voice is very reminiscent of Martin Coburger's voice, and the guitar sound is not far off either. The lyrics are similarly cryptic, although it often becomes clear what the theme and core message are. I find this very positive at first, as I personally really like Boxhamsters. So for fans of this kind of music, it's definitely a recommendation to buy! However, one cannot say that the band steals or copies everything, as many original ideas are incorporated that give it a unique touch, including poppy organ parts.
However, there are also some aspects of the album that I don't like as much, which I need to mention, and this is mainly due to production! With a better production, much more could have been extracted from the album. Firstly, it is very noticeable that the band does not have a drummer and instead only uses a drum machine. That's fine, but the drum sound should come across as a bit punchier and fatter; here it feels a bit weak and often somewhat monotonous. One could take a cue from Inner Conflict, who used a drum machine for years but never made you miss a real drummer. I think a real drummer would bring something extra to the band. But everyone has to decide for themselves. Unfortunately, there is also occasionally a vocal insecurity from the singer, which could have been compensated for with a fuller production.
My conclusion: Overall, a pretty good record! However, for the next album, I would wish for a better production, then it will definitely be a hit!
