The five-piece shows right from the first songs of “The Greater Good” that they manage to dress hard rock, anthemic rock melodies of the 80s, and a hefty dose of rock'n'roll in a contemporary outfit.
It doesn’t come off as cheesy or artificial at all when the guitars play driving melodies perfectly supported by the powerful drums.
It doesn’t come off as cheesy when the vocals softly whisper words into the microphone with just the right amount of grit, only to then rock out moments later, leaving no ceiling dry.
Singer Samuel Nilsson masters the entire range of vocal cords.
The whole thing definitely brings Guns'n'Roses to mind, which is not the worst reference. After all, Guns'n'Roses has shaped at least one generation and brought rock'n'roll into countless youth rooms.
VELVETEEN QUEEN manages to strike just the right balance to appeal to both older generations and younger people. It’s a sound that’s hard to resist.
