I could make it easy for myself and simply duplicate the PARKPUNK review of their album "Arbeitenix" (with some additions). Because my statement about their third album "The Fat Hair Days Are Over" is similar to what I said 4 years ago about "Arbeitenix". Again, I say that anyone who loves KOTZREIZ will also love PARKPUNK with their simple, direct, and unrelenting German punk (where in the song "Alles verschimmelt" you can also hear a bit of the DEAD KENNEDYS).
The main difference is that now not half of the 11 songs on "Arbeitenix" are about drinking, but only three. Contrary to the album title, it’s not the case that half of the 13 songs on "The Fat Hair Days Are Over" are about hair (the Ärzte send their regards), no, not a single song is about hair growth. This time the themes are more general and generally it’s like: "I want to stay just as I am, I don’t want to be like you… I don’t want to improve, I don’t want to be like you," from "Fresse halten".
And now comes my problem, although I have been listening to the album for weeks, I often don’t understand the lyrics!!!! In my opinion, the vocals should have been a bit louder. For example, in the song "Boomer triggern" I kept hearing "U-Bahn fickern" until I looked at the song title, because "U-Bahn fickern" is somehow inappropriate and lo and behold, "Boomer triggern" fits much better. And since I unfortunately don’t have a booklet or lyrics, please forgive me that my old hearing organ is no longer receiving top marks.
As was the case with "Arbeitenix", the 13 two-minute songs on "The Fat Hair Days Are Over" are over in a flash (after 28 minutes) and I have listened to this awesome album several dozen times by now and apart from the "quiet or too unclear" vocals, there’s nothing to complain about!
So "MANDATORY PURCHASE!"
