What can one expect from an album called “Angstapparat“?
What can one expect from a band that has named itself BRAUNKOHELBAGGER?
Five men have recorded their first album after their EP “Abbruch“ and will release it on 16.09.2025.
There are ten songs that are like a brown coal excavator. Powerful, loud, disturbing, destructive, fascinating, and frightening.
The sound on “Angstapparat“ is raw and aggressive. There’s something between noise, hardcore, prog-rock, and punk to be heard. All knobs turned to the right, along with a singer who sometimes screams, sometimes roars, sometimes angrily yells into the microphone, and sometimes actually sings quite cleanly.
Lyrically, as far as one can understand, the lyrics are sometimes fragmentary, sometimes wrapped in friendly words of disturbance. Everyday words in their great, deep meaning evoke fear, prompting reflection on how we behave and how that can affect other people. Here, “Gift“ stands out. If one can even say that in this context.
The songs have titles like “Erdbeben“, “Hexenjagd“, “Stress“, or “Gift“. The band does not take prisoners on the album. It’s a rough piece of music that comes out of the speakers for over 35 minutes.
BRAUNKOHELBAGGER are not everyday in their uncompromisingness.
The energy that comes from the speakers here is something I have rarely heard.
“Angstapparat“ is not for everyone and will only be released digitally and later on vinyl, if Startnext raises enough money. So, be there!
