After the indie newcomers TRISTESSE recently announced their debut album "Die Sonne ging unter, auch ich hatte vergessen" for July 14, "Zünd mich an" follows as another harbinger.

"'Zünd mich an' was created about two years ago, before the release of our debut EP. The song was accordingly one of the first major steps into our musical future and the development of our upcoming debut album. Both lyrically and musically, 'Zünd mich an' is so far one of our most emotional and experimental works," comments singer Jannes-Maximilian Priebels.
In Berlin, dreams are sought and sung about from all sides. With their debut EP "Im schwächsten Licht" (2021), the new German softness has gained a band in TRISTESSE that contemplates self-invention and losing oneself with their five members. Despite the tried-and-true constellation, the band, founded in 2019, represents a musical REM sleep phase, where guitars and vocals blur into lucid strings and each song attempts to be an orchestrated dream image.
Positioned between indierock, shoegaze, and dreampop, the sound of TRISTESSE is defined by space. The echoing words stretch into the chord progressions, drums and bass catch them back from the air and frame them. On one hand, the space radiates familiarity, while on the other hand, it marks the moment of fright just before one falls. This ambivalent relationship shapes the band's sound. In production, the quintet received support from Magnus Wichmann, who has previously worked with acts like BLOND, PABST, and LEONIDEN.
