Temperatures are rising, each day is getting a little brighter, and spring is in the air. This can only mean one thing: The festival season is officially upon us. A season that has a lot to offer, especially for lovers of high-quality alternative rock sounds: Jera On Air - located just behind the border in Ysselsteyn - has prepared a lineup that promises nothing less than unforgettable hours of top-notch music.
With world-class acts such as Parkway Drive, Rancid, Flogging Molly, Papa Roach, and Billy Talent, the 29th edition of the largest alternative festival in the Netherlands certainly has something for nearly everyone. The program of the friendly festival in Ysselsteyn, which takes place this year on June 22, 23, and 24, is now complete with John Coffey, Two and a Half Girl, Slope, Fleddy Melculy, Vamachara, Slope, Exploding Head Syndrome, Neufx, Sing Along Riot, Amæzing Snäke, and the Guts & Glory winners Girlsgirlsgirls.
Tickets are available at www.jeraonair.nl.
But beware: Over 75% of the tickets have already been sold, and based on experience, it won't be long until there are no tickets left before the festival weekend.
The solution is clear: Be quick!
That one cannot hide their true nature applies especially to John Coffey, the energetic Dutch punk band fronted by David Achter de Molen. Since November last year - after a six-year break - they have been secretly working on their comeback and a new album. The desire to rock stages and festival tents has definitely kept them from taking an even longer break. Luckily, because the energetic shows that made John Coffey infamous between 2002 and 2016 are something many people simply do not want to miss anymore. They will once again prove this on the Jera On Air stage.
Two and a Half Girl is one of the most talented Dutch bands that filled part of the gap left by the aforementioned John Coffey in 2016. With the powerful voice of lead singer Juliet as a catalyst, the five-member band knows how to engage a large audience with a mix of punk, emo, and rock. The live shows of Two and a Half Girl consist of sing-along songs, mosh pits, and even a Wall of Death.
At the show of Vamachara at Jera On Air, one should not expect melancholic rock, as the group from California plays purely brutal hardcore music.
The same goes for the German brothers of Slope. This popular festival act released their first "real" album "Street Heat" during the Covid period, but the little masterpiece has not gone unnoticed. Previously, they had already made a name for themselves at Wacken Open Air and ESNS and are now performing in Ysselsteyn.
Hardly any band has made a name for themselves as quickly as Fleddy Melculy. What started as a joke soon became more serious. Their debut single "T-shirt van Metallica" went viral, and the rest is history. With titles like 'Foto van uw hoofd', 'Het gat dat niet groot genoeg was', and 'Midlife cri666', the not-so-serious undertone has remained - exactly what has earned them their numerous fans.
In March, Girlsgirlsgirls won the band competition Guts & Glory in a sold-out Dynamo Eindhoven. With the prize, the guys secured one of the last remaining spots at the upcoming edition of Jera On Air. With their wonderful pop-punk, they have already toured the Netherlands as part of the 'Popronde'.
The complete program of Jera On Air 2023 can be explored at www.jeraonair.nl. Tickets for the three-day festival, which will take place on the new festival grounds like last year, can also be purchased through the website. Information about all facilities can also be found there.
