SOUNDS OF SUBTERRANIA is releasing the 2009 album "50回転ズのビックリ!!" by the Japanese garage punk legend The 50 Kaitenz for the first time on vinyl.
Anyone familiar with Japanese garage punk can fully understand the words that SOUNDS OF SUBTERRANIA uses to describe this release. "THE 50 KAITENZ from Osaka play 60s punk exactly how I wish it to be, and with a perfection that makes me dizzy. Just the transitions from the chorus to the verse are so cleverly placed that you catch yourself playing the obligatory air guitar and, without being able to speak a single word of Japanese, belting out the songs at a volume many times the room level. ザ50回転ズ certainly do not play pure 60s punk. Similar to Turbonegro, they have consumed 70 years of rock 'n' roll history and, to avoid using a more fitting word, shamelessly employed it for their own purposes. Whether punk, country, garage, or beat – everything is examined, distilled, stirred, shaken, and stirred again to unleash itself in disrespectful perfection on your auditory canals. I am thrilled by all the winking references, as what comes out is probably the most distinctive thing I have heard in this very well-trodden area in recent years."
