Produced by longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Young (God's Hate, Suicide Silence) and mixed by John Markson (Drug Church, Koyo), this is an album for anyone looking for good, friendly hardcore fun.
Today, the band presents the music video for the lead single "Evil Finds Light", which adds a touch of carefree humor and playful energy to the thunderous breakdowns and guttural growls of the song. Frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro comments:
"While DRAIN channels a chaotic party vibe through our live show, I’m actually more of a stress case, haha." He continues: "I can get pretty wound up sometimes, and that’s why I tried to tap into those feelings lyrically and paint a picture of how I feel and how stress can make me see my world a little differently than it actually is. While the song is finished, the stress management is still a work in progress."

"LIVING PROOF" injects hardcore with a hefty dose of sympathy for its love of hardness and brutality - not to mention its catchiness. With a permanent grin on his face, singer Sammy Ciaramitaro rides roughshod over thrashy riffs with snotty growls while the rhythms shake powerfully. DRAIN is not just a good time when Sammy rules over the chaos of bodies posing and the frontline reaching for microphones; it’s a party - and everyone is invited.
"I hope this record gives someone hope when they hear it," beams Ciaramitaro. "This is the soundtrack of perseverance and of people overcoming the naysayers in their world and within themselves. I can’t wait to play these songs and hear a room full of people singing them back to us. We are what the title says: the living proof."
Coming from DIY beginnings, the band built their local scene alongside friends who later formed bands like Scowl, Gulch, and Sunami. While paving the way for hardcore in their beach town of Santa Cruz, California, they have created a legacy that extends beyond their Californian roots.
After signing with Epitaph in 2021 and releasing their debut "Watch You Burn", DRAIN made their live debut in Europe and headlined the first night of the "Sound and Fury" festival in 2022, where they welcomed the next generation of hardcore kings in front of 6,000 enthusiastic fans. With their dynamic live shows and positive energy, they have achieved top underground popularity, and their upcoming album is a testament to the hard work and heartfelt ethos that lies at the center of DRAIN's feel-good psyche.
Since their formation in 2014, DRAIN has released two EPs and a full album: Over Thinking (2016), Time Enough at Last (2017), and their debut album California Cursed (2020). With strong influences from thrash and 80s/90s hardcore, they also mix in an eclectic blend of modern influences. LIVING PROOF appeared on the "Most Anticipated Albums of 2023" lists from BrooklynVegan and Revolver, with the latter calling DRAIN "one of the most talked-about hardcore bands in the country." They were also featured in the NY Times Popcast episode "A Renaissance in American Hardcore Music" and celebrated in magazines like Stereogum, Kerrang!, and Alternative Press.
DRAIN will be touring Europe and the UK this year, starting with the Rebellion Tour 2023 with Madball in March, followed by the Summer 2023 festivals. This includes several concerts in Germany.
