SUBWAY TO SALLY sends a message of hope with the 14th studio album Himmelfahrt
For SUBWAY TO SALLY, it is time to open an unexplored chapter. On their new studio album Himmelfahrt, which will be released on March 24, 2023, via Napalm Records, the musicians deal with hope for the first time. Thus, the 14th studio album presents a new beginning and departure at the same time. True to the motto "always look forward and never back," the second single "Leinen los" embodies absolute determination. While singer Eric Fish underscores the spirit of departure with resolute vocals, energetic riffs and a massive soundscape, supported by bagpipe melodies, create a promising atmosphere. Full speed ahead is also the theme in the animated music video, as the band faces new adventures.

"The new album marks a turning point. Himmelfahrt is both an end and a new beginning. The work on the songs for Himmelfahrt began long before Corona, shortly after the release of the last album Hey! This album dealt with a broken world, the destructive behavior of people towards each other and the environment they live in. When Corona then swept the world with a pandemic, much of the album felt prophetic and oppressive. All the material created up to that point had to be put to the test and was discarded as outdated. SUBWAY TO SALLY has always engaged joyfully with the dark sides of the human soul. Over the years, much blood has been shed and love has been murdered. But the lust for destruction is an attitude that works well when a fully fueled helicopter is waiting on the roof to carry us away from the zombie apocalypse. For the first time in thirty years of band history, we had to ask ourselves whether it was time to celebrate hope. Hope is fuel for the future, and many songs on the new album deal with departure and journey, with the idea of reaching out to others to lead them from the deepest depths into the light. However, the latest events in the world put this hope to a severe test. Thus, the drop of bitterness, the resentment that clouds hope, is explained. Therefore, God must also have a say on the album to express His disappointment with His work."
