The Australian crowd favorites PRESS CLUB from Melbourne have just announced their new self-produced album "Endless Motion", which will be released on October 14, 2022, via Hassle Records (Cargo).
Alongside the announcement of the new record, the quartet serves up the new single "Eugene", a wonderfully blurry and raw track packed with powerful guitars and driving, energetic drums, held together by the emotional, rough voice of singer Natalie Foster. A single that lets us feel the tense moments of uncertainty, but also the triumphant feeling of letting go. According to Natalie, "Eugene" is about "being stuck in a cycle where so many things go through your mind that you need to say, but you can't really express them because you're afraid of being misunderstood".
Bold, energetic, and expansive - the idea of movement has always been a central part of PRESS CLUB's ethos. The four-piece punk rock band from Melbourne, who have been making music together for 12 years, consistently rejects stagnation and pushes to change fluidly and thrive within a scene that largely remains the same. "Endless Motion" is an ultimate artistic statement that summarizes the last three years - a collective and global struggle that provided the quartet, led by frontwoman Natalie Forster, with enough material and circumstances to become one of the most exciting rock bands of the current year.
“Eugene” is the second single from the new, first-ever self-produced album, following the previous single “Cancelled”, which promises equal parts playful indie rock, punky intensity, and dreamy alt-rock, balancing anecdotal and introspective elements. With their first two albums - the critically acclaimed, youthful rocking debut "Late Teens" (2018) and the wild freedom of the subsequent "Wasted Energy" (2019) - Press Club have proven that they are among the most urgent new voices in the global DIY punk rock scene.
The highly anticipated third album was created under completely different circumstances than the second work, which was written during a tour and subsequently recorded within a six-day window. Fun and speed were the order of the day back then. Originally, it was planned to record "Endless Motion" in Berlin in 2020, but when the pandemic completely paralyzed the world, this gave the band the opportunity to rethink all their planned material in peace.
"The album is the result of years of downtime and self-observation, of false starts and disappointments, bushfires and pandemics. All factors that forced us to dig up parts of ourselves to create a work that is just as uncompromising and raw as our previous releases, while also coming with more polish and finesse than we would have dared to hope for", says drummer Frank Lees about the new album.
PRESS CLUB have just returned from a three-week tour through Europe and the UK, during which they played at the Download Festival (UK) as well as the Hurricane and Southside Festivals in Germany.
In October and November, the quartet will tour with "Endless Motion" through other parts of the world, making a stop in our region as well:
