Dance Gavin Dance had to cope with the heartbreaking news last week that they lost their bassist and dear friend Tim Feerick and publicly reacted to this shocking news as follows:

"This past week has been the hardest time in the history of Dance Gavin Dance. On Thursday, April 14, we learned that we lost Tim. He was not only the bassist in the band but also our brother and best friend. Losing him is devastating. We were just about to meet for a photoshoot in Sacramento last weekend and rehearse this week for Swanfest and the upcoming tour when we received the deeply shocking news that he is no longer with us.

After the initial shock and grief, it didn’t take long before we were faced with some difficult decisions about our immediate future and our upcoming plans. After many internal discussions with our team - and especially with Tim's family - we decided to go ahead with this year's Swanfest and the subsequent tour in honor of Tim and dedicate it to him. We will also push forward the announcement of our upcoming album.

Crucial to this decision was our understanding of who Tim was as a person and what he would have wanted. We are sure he would be very disappointed if we postponed or canceled these dates. We received further confirmation of this from Tim's parents, who encouraged us to go ahead with these dates. Additionally, music is our way of healing and coping with grief, and we, as the remaining members, want to be together during this time and perform the songs that Tim helped create on stage for our fans. Although no one can replace Tim or what he brought to the band, we have asked Sergio Medina, a close friend of all of ours and someone who worked with Tim, to play bass at the upcoming shows.

We are planning a memorial for Tim at Swanfest, and the entire festival will be dedicated to him, as will all subsequent shows of the tour. We look forward to celebrating his life with the fans. Although this is a great tragedy for everyone who loved and respected Tim, he would have wanted everyone to come out, be together, and enjoy the music. RIP Tim."
