Sissi Rada is one of the best harpists for contemporary classical music in Europe and at the same time a producer of beautiful abstract electronica songs. Her first album will be released on the Berlin-based Kryptox label on November 19. She is currently part of MusicAeterna led by Teodor Currentzis.
The exceptional artist Sissi Rada will release her first album "Nanodiamond" on the Kryptox label in November. A futuristic musical work that combines the sweet melancholy of the classical harp with subtle electronic soundscapes and the magical voice of Sissi Rada. Featuring contributions from Lena Platonos, co-produced by Brian Eno or Andi Toma from Mouse on Mars.
Sissi Rada was born in Athens, studied in Amsterdam and Berlin (University of the Arts), and has since lived in Berlin. Here, she is an active part of the new experimental music scene. Sissi Rada is a member of the David August Ensemble. She creates music for art performances and modern theater.
In addition to her electronic and neojazz experiments in the Berlin underground, she also boasts a remarkable career as an established classical harpist. She is a member of the orchestra musicaAeterna led by Teodor Currentzis and frequently collaborates with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and other ensembles from the classical world.
Now she has recorded this album. It is a melancholic journey through a universe of romantic harp atmospheres, fragile melodies, and subtle impressionistic vibes—based on electronic lo-fi sounds, noisy textures, raw sound design, and sometimes almost robotic beat constructions. A melancholic voice and the subtle harmonic and melodic structures, which sometimes immediately catch the ear and sometimes are understood only after the second or third listen, give the music a magical touch.
Sissi Rada's album is a flight through a space of beautiful, melodic, and harmonic concepts and sounds that often draw on the impressionistic heritage that Sissi Rada (like many of the great Russian classical composers) favors and that are based on unconventional structures and sounds. The music of Sissi Rada is something special.
"Nanodiamond" by Sissi Rada will be released on 19.11.2021 via Kryptox / K7 / Indigo
