After five years of band history, Van Holzen will release their third studio album "Aus der Ferne" on November 12, 2021, and will go on tour at the end of the year. Today, they present a new music video for the single "Gini," in which they realize that happiness does not depend on superficialities but arises from within.
After five years of band history with over 300 concerts played, headlining tours, nominations, and awards, as well as two studio albums, Van Holzen are still in their early twenties in 2021, but they now know very well what they want and what they do not want. The band now takes on many areas themselves and only brings in small teams of people who speak their language. Handmade work is more time-consuming – but it pays off. Essentially, this is exactly what they have always expressed in their music: artistic freedom instead of dependency, in a close circle instead of in the big machinery, together instead of against each other.
With their new single "Gini," Van Holzen announce their third studio album for November 12, 2021. The song tells from the perspective of a genie who fulfills all the material and superficial wishes of a person who seems to have everything and yet is not happy. Knowing that happiness arises from within, the “Gini” fulfills her every wish, also to prove that it does not sustainably improve her situation.

Founded as a classic rock lineup, Florian Kiesling, Jonas Schramm, and Daniel Kotitschke can now identify with many genres. Van Holzen draw their inspiration from pop, rap, or indie music and develop this using the rock toolbox into a unique and versatile sound that knows how to surprise beyond supposed genre boundaries. In any case, the songs primarily arise from their personal feelings, which grow within them when looking at a world full of injustices, disasters, and their challenges: fear, doubt, anger, but time and again also hope, understanding, mindfulness, (self-)love, a focus on the good, and the strengthening of that.
Perhaps it takes a privileged place like their hometown Ulm to gain a reflective, critical perspective from afar on the events and conditions of the world and society. For Van Holzen, it is clear: In a diverse world where people are increasingly connected yet simultaneously isolating themselves, there is a need for many different expressions and outlets for various people with different feelings.
