Touring, touring is never boring, sang the Ramones in 1981. The big dream of every musician is to always be on tour in a big nightliner, one hour on stage and then a party every night. The reality is told by 30 punk, oi, and hardcore bands from 14 countries in Tim Hackemack's new bilingual book "Hit the Stage." From South Korea to Argentina to Poland, musicians report on boredom on tour, problems finding gigs, the music business on a large and small scale, and share stories from their touring lives.
In addition, Hirnkost author Tim Hackemack also went on tour to attend concerts of all the bands and fill the book with over 1,000 photos from large halls, festivals, and many small clubs. Stagehands, tour photographers, bookers, and merchandisers report on their work behind the scenes.
The photos capture the one hour of the day that everyone loves. The interviews cover the remaining 23 hours needed to look good for that one hour.
Featuring Agnostic Front, Discharge, The Movement, Dritte Wahl, Slime, Razors, Abwärts, Aggressive, Gum Bleed, Grade 2, Kevin Seconds, Lion's Law, Menace, The Generators, TV Smith, The Veggers, Bishops Green, C4 Service, Die Lokalmatadore, COR, Friedemann, The Manges, The Outcasts, The Peacocks, The Analogs, Zona 84, Rantanplan, Shandy, Mr. Irish Bastard, Die Mimmis.
There are 4 different covers to choose from, and the best part is that with every purchase, you support an initiative or a venue:
