Everyone reacts differently to a crisis - some flee, some freeze, and some say: "What can we do to help?" They take a look at the current situation, such as the raging global pandemic, and assess their abilities in that context. The Bar Stool Preachers are not nurses or doctors, but they are one of the latest bright lights in the music world, equipped with energy and social conscience.
So they did what they do best; they took two of their songs that were held back for the highly anticipated new album and rewrote them to reflect their thoughts and feelings about what we are all currently experiencing. They asked a few people for a favor, managed to come together in the studio just days before the lockdown took effect in the UK, and from that came these impressive tracks. Produced by folk-punk wonder Jake Rousham (The Levellers) and the guys themselves, they have managed to create some of the most authentic and best-sounding punk/rock'n'roll of the last decade while having fun and remaining both timely and politically devastating.
Knowing that a lot of things are shit right now, but that people always need positive, strong music, they have made the songs available for free download on their website TheBarStoolPreachers.com (+ streaming on all major platforms). There is a donation button for anyone who has the available resources to donate to the band, from which they will also donate to healthcare workers and their families in the UK (and possibly to others if enough funds come in), as this is an ever-changing crisis. The band is doing what they can, raising money for the severely underfunded NHS workers, providing their fans with anthems to help them through this incredibly difficult time, and doing what they do best - uniting our community with two amazing songs! Maintaining their usual inclusivity, BSP then set out to create the most current video, where nearly a thousand fans submitted their contributions for the first video of the two singles. The editing was done in a flash, and Pirates Press Records are proud to crown the song 'When The World Ends' with a video. It features the band, friends, and fans in their various quarantine situations and their singalongs to TJ's current and uplifting lyrics.
'State of Emergency' is the revolutionary song for the possible times to come. Broadcasted and heard from megaphones and sound systems in different countries, echoing from locked gardens... BSP proves to everyone that they will be here to stay, and they can help carry the weight of the world.
