On September 29, we will celebrate the 16 years of Punkrockers-Radio festival at Rotunde Bochum. Five bands will take the stage that evening. The opener slot is still up for grabs, and the band will be determined through several rounds. Popularity, recognition, and skill will play a role, but a bit of luck is also part of it. All bands from the punk/hardcore scene that are willing to share the risk with us and, in the worst case, play for gas money can apply. Plenty of beer, good food, etc. are of course guaranteed, as well as accommodation if necessary.
The first stage will run through a classic Facebook voting. We will create an album with photos and band information. The band that receives the most likes will have the best chance of moving on to the next round. The top 10 bands will make it through. However, we want to give everyone else a chance as well, so we will draw three more bands from the remaining ones. For stage two, we have assembled a jury that represents large parts of the music business: Fabi from OxFanzine, Jürgen from Rookie Records, Ilona from Bunte Welt Booking, Enno from The Grabøwskis, and Wolverine from our radio. They will select three bands from the remaining 13 to advance to the next round. Here, luck will play a role again.
Applications are open now until February 15. The voting will take place from February 19 to February 28. After that, it will be the jury's turn. On March 9, the three finalists will be determined, and on March 11, the winning band will be drawn live.
From all interested bands, we need the following:
- a two-liner with information about the band
- a photo
- a link to music, e.g., Bandcamp, YouTube, or SoundCloud (better not Spotify)
