The South Korean trio Jambinai is the newest member of the Bella Union family. The new album “A Hermitage” will be released on June 17, 2016. Jambinai masters the art of blending the expansive dynamics of post-rock with their Korean folk roots, creating an intoxicating and impulsive sound fusion. The new work was recorded at the M.O.L. Studio in South Korea's capital, Seoul, where the debut EP “Jambinai” and the first album “Différance” were also created. The unique instrumentation immediately stands out. Ilwoo Lee, Bomi Kim, and Eunyong Sim primarily use traditional instruments such as the Haegeum (a tube fiddle), a Piri (a bamboo flute), or the Geomungo (a Korean zither), and manage to hit the ground running from the very first second. “Many post-rock bands start albums by warming up,” says Lee. “And mostly people expect Asian traditional music to make something smooth for yoga or meditation. We want to break with all of that.”
