PIPES AND PINTS BRING A GLIMPSE INTO THEIR PRIVATE LIVES WITH THE NEW VIDEO AND RETURN TO THE CONCERT STAGES AFTER A BREAK
PRAGUE They are one of the few Czech bands that can attract several hundred spectators in Western European metropolises. Industry colleagues often refer to this band as a role model of the scene. We are talking about one of the biggest Czech discoveries - the punk rock group Pipes and Pints.
This band, which can be proud not only of an original tattooed frontman or bagpipes but also of a music academy award “Anděl”, is returning to the stage after a five-month break. And they are doing so with a new music video – Warpath 82.

“In this video, our personal lives are depicted. The camera followed each of us for an entire day. This way, our fans can see how we wake up in the morning, brush our teeth, but also what we do at home and how we spend our free time,” says Vojta Kalina, the bagpiper of Pipes and Pints.
The director of the video and the band's bassist Ondra Balvín adds that the band responded to the frequent questions from fans. “Fans wanted to know how we spend our time between concerts, how we regain our energy, and where we relax. The whole piece is a little glimpse into our intimate zones. A Sunday afternoon with the Pipes and Pints guys – that’s how I would describe it,” he says.
The song Warpath 82 from the latest LP - Found and Lost - will be featured in the current playlists of the upcoming concerts. Czech fans can look forward to this song and the band during their Friday performances at the famous music event České a Moravské Hrady (Bohemian and Moravian Castles) or at open-air festivals like Rock for People, Mighty Sounds, or Rock For Churchill. Additionally, several concerts in Germany, Poland, France, Spain, and Slovakia are also planned. “We have prepared a perfect program for the summer. Due to requests from fans, we have reintroduced our intro – The Gael. A lot of work has also been done on the stage lighting,” adds Vojta Kalina.
Pipes and Pints (CZ/USA) – Punk Rock with Scottish Bagpipes
Pipes and Pints was founded in 2006 by Vojta Kalina (Scottish bagpipes/vocals) and Tomáš Novotný (guitar). Together, they dreamed of a band that mixes punk rock, dirty folk, and country with rock’n’roll. A solid core of Pipes and Pints was formed when Lukáš Vincour (drums), Ondra Balvín (bass), and the American Syco Mike (vocals) joined the band. Mike changed his plans because of the band and moved not from Austria back to California, but to Prague. The desire for continuous touring left no doubt that Pipes and Pints are serious about their craft. This was also evident from their first EP (recorded in 2008). The band did not hesitate and secured their first international performances. During their first tours, Pipes and Pints supported bands like Social Distortion, Deadline, The Old Firm Casuals, or Mad Sin.
For the studio work on their second LP, the band invited Darian Rundall, a Californian producer who had previously worked with bands like Pennywise, US Bombs, or Suicidal Tendencies. The new album Found and Lost brought Pipes and Pints not only a lot of articles and reviews in Czech and foreign media but, above all, enormous feedback from fans, sold-out venues, and tours in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Poland, France, Spain, and Russia. Found and Lost was also chosen by the Czech Music Academy as the winner of the “Anděl” awards in 2012 in the punk/hardcore genre. The band will certainly not stop their concert fervor this year. Recently, the guys returned from a successful European tour. They don’t even need to unpack, as the open-air sessions in the Czech Republic and abroad are already waiting.
