About the content:
“Deutschrock” is booming, and the headliner of this genre comes from Brixen. The South Tyrolean band Frei.Wild is currently one of the most successful German-speaking bands and provokes and polarizes public opinion like no other. Klaus Farin not only met the four Frei.Wild musicians repeatedly over two years, accompanied them on tour, and visited them at home in South Tyrol, but also surveyed more than 4,000 fans of the band, spoke with historians and musicologists, 59 other Deutschrock bands, and many other artists and Frei.Wild critics, as well as conducted biographical interviews with relatives and former members of the far-right scene, among other things about the role of music in the right-wing scene. Thus, this book has become not only a band biography but also one of the largest fan studies in the German-speaking world, a confrontation with the newly awakened regionalism in Europe and the impact and significance of music, with media representations and prejudices. A home story of a special kind between rock’n’roll and patriotism, freedom and fascism, faith and pop culture. Edutainment literature on one of the most pressing issues of our time.
