Last year, Slut was commissioned by the theater in Ingolstadt to take on the musical arrangement of the Threepenny Opera. After the great success of the performance, it was decided to compile a whole CD from the existing material. So it was done, the songs were recorded, and the freshly pressed CDs were already waiting for delivery when the Kurt Weill Foundation, the rights holder to the songs, halted the release with the threat of a cease-and-desist order. After tough negotiations, an agreement was finally reached to press five of the originally 13 songs onto CD. This "Little Threepenny Opera" is now available, and you can listen to a preview on the specially created e-card: http://www.eminewmedia.de/slut-3groschen/.
There is certainly no need to wait for the release of the remaining pieces. As stated in a written declaration from the rights holders, among other things:
There is certainly no need to wait for the release of the remaining pieces. As stated in a written declaration from the rights holders, among other things:
The music group Slut...will refrain in the future from processing more than 5 (five) songs from the work "The Threepenny Opera" by Kurt Weill and performing them in concerts as well as recording and releasing them on sound carriers... We thank you for your generous offer to make your earnings from the CD available to the rights holders... We will also not approve the creation of an edited version of the Threepenny Opera in the future...
