After the new album "Franconian Boogaloo" released in May caused quite a stir, the four gentlemen from Gankino Circus in Dietenhofen, Middle Franconia, are now on tour with their new theater program.
A concert by Gankino Circus is not just a concert. It is a performance, a spectacularly virtuosic presentation of Franconian folk music, cabaret, clowning, and music from Eastern Europe and the rest of the world, gathered from countless travels.
At the end of September, the four passionate musicians set off for Kyiv on behalf of the Goethe-Institut to contribute to the "Day of European Languages" with a workshop and concert, despite the difficult political situation.
Young people from all over Ukraine traveled to Kyiv to make music together with the four Franconians. German folk songs met Ukrainian folk melodies and were ultimately presented to the audience in a colorful mix and typical Gankino style.
After the 10-day Ukraine tour in 2013, this short tour to Kyiv was once again a very impressive experience for the band. "We were deeply impressed," said guitarist Ralf Wieland, "by the genuine enthusiasm of the audience and the workshop participants in these very difficult times for the country."
