The legal dick measuring contest of frei.wild GbR against Nordwand has come to an end. For Nordwand, the story has ended with a happy ending.
Oh man, folks!
Sorry that it took a bit longer, but we believe this story deserves a worthy conclusion, especially since we could only finalize it now due to private reasons, but also because we had to deal with the usual band stuff (rehearsals, concerts, recordings, drinking beer, and cookie munching) alongside evaluating everything.

It has turned out to be a happy ending )
We reluctantly admit that all the legal crap we had to endure after frei.wild GbR sent their lawyers to measure dicks against us poor souls cost us not only a lot of money but also quite a bit of time, nerves, and above all, the belief that our response to fascist, right-wing, and ethnonationalist trash is protected by democratic values such as freedom of opinion, art, and press.
However, you were able to alleviate our doubts over the past weeks and months by supporting us not only financially but also morally. Thank you!
After the completed proceedings, we remain, thanks to your solidarity, not only free from the imposed costs but can also conclude with our heads held high that we see ourselves as moral winners. We have found new friends and enemies who have convinced us in their own unique ways that while the form of our little jab towards Northern Italy may have been legally contestable, the motivation behind it is, according to our understanding of politics, scene, and morality, 100% justified.
Special thanks go to Heidi and the siblings in spirit, Elli and Olli. We would like to sincerely apologize that the tone of our lively digital discussions adapted to your line of argument; we now know that the fact-resistance of the FW fanbase is due to the schizophrenia in the texts and statements (as well as the understanding of topography) of your great idols – so it’s not your fault.
We would love to individually thank all supporters here, but we are afraid we might forget someone among the many people. But we hope you know who you are. So once again, thank you all!
With all the solidarity, we even have a small surplus in the account after all costs have been paid. What will happen next with us?
First, the download sampler originally planned as a solidarity project with over 30 bands will be released for the symbolic price of one euro. The proceeds from the sampler are intended for a thematically appropriate good cause; we are open to ideas and suggestions. More on that in the coming days.
We also want to put it in your hands what should happen with the surplus from the previous solidarity actions. Send us your suggestions by the time of Resist to Exist (here as a comment or via email to nordwand [at] schoenerskins.de), we might come up with a few ourselves, and after Resist, we will put a vote online.
