No late April Fool's joke: Punk legend John Lydon a.k.a. Johnny Rotten, known as the frontman of the Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd, will take on the role of King Herod in the upcoming US tour of the award-winning rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar". The very interesting lineup of the three-month tour also includes Brandon Boyd (Incubus) as Judas, Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child) as Mary Magdalene, and JC Chasez ('N SYNC) as Pontius Pilate.
Lydon commented on this in a press release:
"Jesus Christ Superstar" made its stage debut on Broadway in 1971 and has since been known as one of the most successful musicals in the world. The US tour kicks off on June 9 in New Orleans and ends on August 16 in Philadelphia.
