The band SANDOW was founded by Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt and Chris Hinze at the age of 12 in the eponymous Cottbus housing estate. During the GDR era, underground hits like "Schweigen und Parolen", "Harmonie und Zerstörung", and "Born in the G.D.R." emerged, resonating with the rebellious youth through subversive lyrics and compact post-punk arrangements. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, SANDOW were briefly considered the hottest act and toured with RIO REISER and DIE TOTEN HOSEN. However, instead of catchy songs, SANDOW continue to deliver complex compositions and poetic lyrics that refuse to engage with current events. The first official band biography also shows that the band's significance extends far beyond their musical output. The optionally included CD IM FEUER was nominated for the German Audiobook Award 2013 in the category of Best Audio Play.
