Decision of the ECHO Advisory Board regarding Frei.Wild
Following the establishment of a neutral and independent advisory board, which can be consulted by the board of the Federal Association of the Music Industry (BVMI) in cases of doubt regarding the nomination or award of artists at the ECHO music award, the new ECHO Advisory Board has made the following decision during its current review of the album "Still" by the band Frei.Wild:
"The ECHO Advisory Board has unanimously decided after long and intense discussion and consideration of all aspects in its meeting on February 19, 2014, that the artists "Frei.Wild" with the album "Still" should not be excluded from nomination for the "ECHO - German Music Award".
The ECHO Advisory Board has evaluated the artists "Frei.Wild" with their recording "Still" in the current overall context and has concluded that the boundary between what is artistically justifiable and what is socially completely unacceptable has not been crossed. It finds its opinion confirmed, as the current recordings of the artists are not indexed by the Federal Review Board for Media Harmful to Minors and the Voluntary Self-Regulation of the Film Industry has also granted a rating of 12 years and older for the film components of the product "Still"."
