With the groovy R&B track “I Feel It Like You,” Malia presents the first single from her new album “Convergence,” recorded with Boris Blank.
Malia has named her new album “Convergence,” on which she worked with Swiss electro musician and producer Boris Blank for about two years. The title could be translated as “Converging” or “Approach.” And that is exactly what this album is about in multiple ways: the convergence of the different ideas of these two artists, the interplay of Blank's electronic sounds and Malia's organic voice, the approach of the soulful jazz singer to the electro scene, where Boris Blank has been a leading figure with the duo Yello for many years and made a name for himself as a bold pioneer of sampling. The eleven songs on this intense and inspired album deal with life and survival. They are anthems full of tragic moments and dramatic insights, telling stories of ghosts, prostitution, slavery, illness, spirituality, and of course love. They are as light as they are profound, as wise as they are simple, and often even all of that at once. The first single released is the cool, grooving rhythm and blues track “I Feel It Like You,” which sounds as if it were written for the soundtrack of a James Bond film. This will naturally remind connoisseurs of Yello's collaboration with the great Shirley Bassey (“The Rhythm Divine”), who herself achieved some of her greatest successes with her title songs for various Bond classics.
The album “Convergence” will be released on January 24, 2014, in Germany.
