With their new album PRIDE * BELIEF * LOVE, DISTEMPER has shifted into a higher gear!
Even before bands like LENINGRAD or SPITFIRE, DISTEMPER from Moscow established themselves as THE Russian original ska-punk band here in Germany, and they are often referred to as the "Russian Bosstones." Since their founding in 1989, the band has released the "small matter" of 15 full-length albums (in words: fifteen!), also featured on the legendary "Russendisko" sampler by Wladimir Kaminer and for several years licensed under the cult ANR - Records label. Countless concerts and festivals like Mighty Sounds, Potsdamer Ska Festival, or Force Attack have made DISTEMPER a well-known name in Western Europe.
The new album PRIDE * BELIEF * LOVE comes with 14 new DISTEMPER anthems, sung in Russian as always by singer Dacent with his unmistakable rough voice, and they stick in your ear immediately. Although DISTEMPER has faced much more than just a bloody nose due to their clear statements against the Nazis in Russia, resulting in the loss of many former (supposed) fans, the lyrics are by no means overtly political. The songs do express criticism and address the social reality in Russia in various ways, but they convey a more optimistically positive attitude towards life.
The dog has a long tradition with DISTEMPER, and so we have three dogs on the front cover of the new album. The booklet will have twenty pages and will include the complete German lyrics alongside the Russian ones for reading along. Live, the mega-sympathetic band - including their dog mascot - will present the new songs again in Germany starting September 2013:
