Guðrið Hansdóttir was born on one of the 18 small islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and Scotland. She grew up with music thanks to her father, a trained guitarist. She loved to sing; rummaging through her father's record collection, she discovered many great artists like Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, Jethro Tull, and Jimi Hendrix.
On her 14th birthday, Guðrið learned some chords from her father on the guitar. From that moment on, she began writing her own songs.
In 2007, at the age of 26, she released her critically acclaimed debut album "Love is Dead." She won the Planet Award (Faroese Music Award) in the category "Best Female Album."
This was followed by several small tours through Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Germany, and the USA.
Her self-released second album "The Sky is open" in June 2010 became the best-selling album in the Faroe Islands. For this, she received the Planet Award "Album of the Year!"
