With this album, Monster Magnet established a monument. Well, to be honest, Monster Magnet has set a monument with almost every record. But a debut is something special. With "Spine Of God," Dave Wyndorf and his boys first took the stage in full LP length in 1991 and changed the metal world. Exactly, the term Stoner Rock didn't even exist back then, and what Monster Magnet recorded at that time sounded so new and different that a term had to be invented for it. Admittedly, Kyuss were probably the first to use it. Nevertheless, the Spine of God upheld and kept metal alive in the early '90s and remains a blueprint for the Desert or Stoner Rock genre to this day. An album like a trip. A mix of heavy metal, psychedelic bursts, pure punk, krautrock, heavy space rock, incredible guitars, and strange lyrics about a space spray, a Pteranodon, and the Bull God. No wonder the vinyl version of "Spine Of God" carried the warning on the inner sleeve: "It’s a satanic drug thing, you wouldn’t understand." In short: The record is a legend, as are Dave Wyndorf and Monster Magnet. And after his spacelordship personally honored us some time ago by performing another masterpiece, "Dopes To Infinity," completely live, now comes the second act with the first record: Monster Magnet is going on tour and playing "Spine Of God‘ plus the hits." Anyone who wants to know how it all began, who wants to listen again to how different the band was at the beginning of their career, who is too young to have heard the original back then, or who is old enough to remember those times and wants to experience them again, or who simply wants to listen to fantastic rock for an evening: This is the opportunity.
