Split release of the punk giants: Rookie is releasing a double 7-inch by Spermbirds and Pascow

Cologne, 30.05.2012 – On June 29, Rookie Records, in cooperation with Kidnap Music, will release a split single of a special kind: The hardcore legend Spermbirds and one of the hottest German punk bands, Pascow, have recorded two new songs each for a double 7".
 
“What Jet Said” and “Running In Front Of Cars” remained unfinished during the recordings of the last Spermbirds album “A Columbus Feeling”. Guitarist Steve Wiles has reworked and mastered both tracks for this single. In “What Jet Said”, Spermbirds showcase a calmer side: melodic and mid-tempo, the stomper is convincing. Quite different is “Running In Front Of Cars”, where it’s characteristically short and intense about a life-weary cynic, “Cause I'm stupid / and I'm bored”.
 
Pascow, on the other hand, pay tribute with their song choices to old friends, Cüntsler, and to a formative band from their youth, Dackelblut. The track “Spraypaint The Walls” literally ended up in the drawer back then, as the Düsseldorf post-punk band Cüntsler broke up before it could be released. Pascow shortens the song by almost half in their version and interprets it in a stripped-down manner. The second song choice comes from the bottom of their hearts. “Friseur” by Dackelblut has played a significant role since the first band trip to an away concert. With all the respect that Dackelblut and their unforgettable album “Schützen und Fördern” deserve, Pascow have dared to cover one of their all-time favorites. Both tracks were recorded by Kurt Ebelhäuser at Studio 45 with powerful energy and strong sound.
 
And Rookie provides a special framework for it all: The four songs will be released exclusively on vinyl as a double 7" in a gatefold cover and in thick cardboard. The two records come in two different vinyl colors that match the cover. And of course, a card with download codes is included. The lyrics are located in the inner part of the gatefold cover. All in all, a unique format with plenty of love for detail for friends of special music in a special presentation.
