Founded in 2000 as a metal cover band, the four-member group consisted of the three Steele brothers Chris (drums), twins Stuart and James (guitar and bass), and Joe Ward (guitar), a childhood friend. After a long search and endless auditions, the band from Reading found the unique vocal talent Ryan Redman in 2003. His distinctive voice and aversion to pseudo-macho screaming - instead, he relies on powerful melodies - give Exit Ten a unique touch that sets them apart from the cookie-cutter clones in the scene.
In April of the following year, Exit Ten went into the Criterion Studios in London with producer Mark Williams (Sikth, Oceansize, yourcodenameis:milo) to record their first self-titled EP. This EP, along with their reputation as an amazing live band, catapulted them into the big leagues: they played on the NME stage at the V Festival as well as supporting Deftones and Avenged Sevenfold. Additionally, they won the Richard Branson reality show: Rebel Billionaire. And that was just the beginning.
The band continued to tour, wrote songs, and then recorded their acclaimed mini LP in 2006 with the extraordinary producer Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage). This World They’ll Drown brought Exit Ten even more attention as well as praise from the British press, which celebrated the band as one of the most exciting bands in the country, followed by tours with groups like Every Time I Die. After that, the guys took a break to further refine their hook-laden prog-metal-rock sound.
