Killing Joke are back in full force and as active as if they had never been away, as if there had been no endless breaks in the career of the British post-punk band. Although 'post-punk' is just a term and a synonym for what Jaz Coleman, Kevin "Geordie" Walker, Martin "Youth" Glover, and Paul Ferguson have released over the past nearly 35 years. The output of the various line-ups has been too diverse to pigeonhole the music. However, it is well known that Killing Joke have been back on the road with the original lineup for some time now and continue to be busy. Last year, they released their 14th studio album, "Absolut Dissent", which was enthusiastically received by both critics and fans. "Still angry, still vital," wrote Neil Gardner, hitting the nail on the head. From there, Jaz and his colleagues simply continue. In January, the live album "Down By The River" is set to be released, a recording of a performance from the Royal Festival Hall, which Geordie claims is undoubtedly Killing Joke's finest ever London performance. And that says a lot. Additionally, the four gentlemen are currently in the countryside, putting the finishing touches on the new studio album, which is also scheduled for release next year. The corresponding tour is already in the planning stages. What is certain so far is that the setlist for the performances will cover the entire span of their career and include songs from every phase of the long band history. And of course, Killing Joke will also make a stop in Germany. So, one can look forward to two new albums and a show of superlatives.
