M83 Video "Midnight City" is online!
"Midnight City" is the first single from the current M83 album "Hurry up, We're Dreaming". The directors Fleur & Manu (Division/Les Télécréateurs) are also responsible for the videos of Sébastien Tellier's "Roche" and "Sexual Sportswear" as well as Bag Raiders' "Sunlight". The "Midnight City" video is a tribute to "Village of the Damned", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and other Akiras. M83 is Anthony Gonzalez, born in Antibes, South France. With "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming", the sixth album has now been released on Naive. The double album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, Air, NIN, Tori Amos, Goldfrapp) and includes collaborations with Zola Jesus, Brad Laner (Medicine) and Morgan Kibby, who also contributed to "Saturdays = Youth". The unique music of M83 draws inspiration from Krautrock, 80s pop, shoegaze, and film music. Since 2001, Gonzalez has released five albums that have been celebrated worldwide, especially in the USA, and has produced various remixes for artists including Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Goldfrapp, Deftones, Bloc Party, and White Lies. On the world tour for the last album "Saturdays = Youth" in 2008, M83 opened for The Killers in the USA, Kings of Leon in the UK, and Depeche Mode in France, Italy, and Germany. Gonzalez about his new album: "For now, the direction of the album is very, very, very epic. Very orchestrated. I feel like it's a mix of all my albums, actually. I think it is a reflection of my 30 years of being a human being. It’s a compilation of all my previous music together. It’s a retrospective of myself."
With the video for the single "Midnight City", M83 delivers a highly infectious synth-pop hit.
