Berlin, 25.08. 2011 – “For me, this is a long-held dream coming true!” says Philipp Poisel, full of anticipation for his very first concert in France on 12.09. at La Dynamo, Toulouse. Born near Stuttgart, the 28-year-old musician is a modern troubadour, globetrotter, and excellent poet. His current Top Ten album “Bis nach Toulouse” has been in the German album charts for 38 weeks and reflects Poisel's connection to France in its title. “I think France is fantastic. Many other countries too; but France, because it is so extreme. It’s always a real journey when you start in Germany and then drive to southern France, there are so many different landscapes and rivers and mountains… When you look into the faces of the people who live down by the sea, or those who are up in the north or in Paris, this cultural metropolis – this country is just so incredibly diverse that I could drive from A to B forever. This contrast in France - incredibly fascinating,” the singer expresses his enthusiasm for the land and its people.
His debut album “Wo fängt Dein Himmel an” was released in 2008 and included four hit singles. This was followed by an extremely successful debut tour through sold-out venues across the country, and since then, there has been no stopping Poisel's success. This year, he already toured through 27 sold-out halls in the first half of the year, followed by numerous summer concerts (including a completely sold-out open-air concert with 10,000 tickets at Tanzbrunnen Köln), and by the end of summer 2011, Poisel will have performed for over 100,000 fans. Of course, it is a special highlight when this “Bis nach Toulouse” summer tour will have its grand finale with a concert in Toulouse itself, on September 12 at La Dynamo. Philipp Poisel is absolutely thrilled: “I’ve been around Toulouse and have passed by it countless times, seen the exit and the name on the map – but I haven’t been to Toulouse itself yet. And: I just think ‘Toulouse’ is great, with the double ‘ou’, it has something incredibly playful that I really, really like.”
Philipp Poisel has developed into one of Germany's most popular singer-songwriters, winning various radio awards and even an ECHO nomination in 2011. In the midst of all this, his new single, “Eiserner Steg” (release date: 23.09.11), which was specifically composed for Matthias Schweighöfer's new film, “What A Man”, is now being released. As a big fan of authentic singer/songwriters, Schweighöfer asked Poisel for a song for the soundtrack and is happy and honored with the result “Eiserner Steg”: “At the latest when Philipp sings: ‘Hätt’ alle Wege verändert, hätt’ ich sie vorher gewusst’, you know that you just have to listen to this song over and over again.”
