ATARI TEENAGE RIOT with new video!
"BLOOD IN MY EYES" (NIC ENDO'S VIDEO MESSAGE)

The selection happened quickly. When superstar DJ Steve Aoki signed the techno collective of Alec Empire last summer for the USA at his label DIM MAK Records (Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT, etc.), it was clear: Atari Teenage Riot are back in full force and right in the middle of the hipster scene (Back then it was the Beastie Boys label Grand Royal, now it's DIM MAK that fills entire thousands of halls with their raves in Los Angeles every week).

Sold-out concerts by ATARI TEENAGE RIOT all over the world immediately convinced everyone.
Their shows at the Fusion and Berlin Festival last summer have already achieved cult status.
Critics agree: Live, the band has more energy than ever before!
But what about new material?
When the British newspaper MOJO interviewed Alec Empire, the journalist provoked Alec and said that if even the Pixies have failed, and the Stooges have recorded a rather lukewarm album, one can hardly imagine that ATR could achieve something better.
Alec laughed and replied: “First of all, we are now much younger AND the machines are on our side, my friend! I will prove it to you!”
“Is This Hyperreal?” naturally focuses on freedom on the internet, points out the dangers, criticizes, and has a force of sound that makes the old ATARI TEENAGE RIOT albums sound almost like demo versions. It is the definitive album for the internet age. And it is fun, exciting, and perfect for experiencing these songs live. More on this will come in the next weeks.
The first single is called “Blood In My Eyes.” This song addresses human trafficking. Singer Nic Endo (yes, the pretty Asian woman with war paint on her face, who has thousands of girls in Japan putting on makeup at the ATR concerts there) tackles a serious issue.
A tribute to the heroines from films like “Kill Bill” or “Baise Moi”.
But also a metaphor for all of us who are guilty when we just stand by and watch modern slavery happen.
Anyone expecting a roaring Alec Empire and distorted sounds until they drop will be surprised. When looking at the discography of ATR, one must acknowledge that there has not always been just one side, but that the band has always been much more versatile. (Not for nothing did SPEX attribute a real pop status to ATR in their cover story back then!)
Of course, “Blood In My Eyes” rocks like nothing that has been produced in Berlin for a long time. Driving electro beats and 8-bit sounds that sound more like Hollywood than a second-hand Casio keyboard. The guitars are really fat. On top of that, Nic Endo’s unique voice. She was born in Texas, USA, but has that slight German accent that people abroad find so interesting.
WARNING: The song is highly regarded in England because the topic of human trafficking is currently being hotly debated in the press there (The Olympic Games and similar sporting events always see an increase in this form of crime. In England, the problem is on the agenda for 2012.). For this reason, ATR is releasing the song there in advance. More official singles will follow.
"Blood In My Eyes" has now become a highlight for fans at ATR's festival performances this summer.
The legendary radio DJ Rodney Bingenheimer from Los Angeles included the song directly in his hot playlist for KROQ FM in the USA.
Nic Endo took this as an opportunity to remind fans of the actual content of the song with a video message and filmed herself on July 20/21/22, 2011, in the Atari Teenage Riot studio in Berlin The Hellish Vortex.
Additionally, Nic Endo staged a rape scene with three actors.
The result is a radical statement that shakes and disturbs the viewer.
The video can be seen on the official band website and also on Vimeo http://vimeo.com/26927499
