As we have just learned, Poly Styrene, the former singer of X-Ray-Spex, has died of cancer at the age of 53. Especially the first two X-Ray-Spex singles “Oh Bondage! Up Yours” and “Identity” were extremely important for the development of punk history and should not be missing from any punk compilation. A solo album, which was recorded only in March, will likely be released posthumously.
It was really thought that after a cancer diagnosis last year things would improve again, but this damn disease has struck again faster than expected.
We wish all the best to the bereaved in this way!!!
