“RELENTLESS RECKLESS FOREVER” WILL BE RELEASED ON MARCH 4, 2011
“The perfect Storm” is back and has their long-awaited new studio album in tow.
CHILDREN OF BODOM (COB), one of the most successful heavy metal bands in the world, will release their new album “Relentless Reckless Forever” on March 4, 2011, via Spinefarm Records. The band's seventh studio album was recorded in the Finnish Petrax Studios with producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet) and is also the first studio album from the band since their 2008 hit album “Blooddrunk,” which earned them a number 5 spot in the German album charts and their third consecutive number one hit in their home country of Finland.
“We worked very hard on the new album. For me, that meant hardly any rest and almost no sleep for six weeks,” says frontman and guitar god Alexi Laiho. “But we wanted to make the best COB album, and that’s why we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, it also helped that our producer Matt Hyde practically kicked our asses 24/7. The result is fantastic. We can’t wait for the album to finally be released.”
The first single is the track “Was It Worth It?”. The accompanying video was shot with Chris Cole, who has been awarded “Skater of the Year” multiple times by Thrasher Magazine and is a two-time X Games gold medalist. Also on board were professional skaters Jamie Thomas and Tom Asta (currently the #1 amateur skater in the world). The video, shot in guerrilla style, was not edited and impresses with the unique mix of COB’s powerful sound and incredible skater action.
“Was It Worth It? is a total party song,” says Laiho. “It may not be the typical BODOM sound, but it’s definitely one of my favorite songs on the album and heavy as hell.”
Besides Laiho, the band consists of Roope Latvala (guitar), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppälä (bass), and Janne Warman (keyboards).
CHILDREN OF BODOM’s mix of modern heavy metal, melodic hooks, and Laiho’s guitar acrobatics have made them what they are today: one of the leading and most innovative voices of a new metal generation.
Of course, there will be an extensive tour to accompany the album, as is customary for COB. With 44 stops, the Finns will travel across Europe. Here are the dates for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland:
